17 times per hour, 2,000 times before meeting with success. Can you imagine experiencing that much failure and still persevering? Well you don’t have to imagine it, we have all experienced this phenomenon. These surprising statistics are the number of times a toddler falls in the process of learning to walk. If we can muster up that much grit as a toddler, surely we can muster up enough tenacity to achieve any goal we set.
Setting goals is an act of courage! Remaining focused when faced with the inevitable challenges that arise along the journey is audacious!! If you find your goal has taken a back seat to old habits or new priorities, no worries, take a breath and Begin Again, and Again, and Again, etc. Dial-in your audacious inner toddler 😀
If you committed to a health/wellness goal at the beginning of the year...
I applaud you! We are now halfway thru 2016; time to check in on your progress, re-commit to your goal and re-set your focus for the second half of this year. If you did not set a health/wellness goal in January, now is The Time!!!
Here are four tips to help you get started with a new goal.
1) What is the vision you see for your health 6 or 12 months from now?
2) What about that vision is important to you?
3) Imagine you have reached your goal, what would the positive outcomes be?
4) What is one small habit you can begin in order to achieve your goal?
Here are three tips to help you re-set your focus on an existing goal.
1) What am I doing that is working?
2) What needs improvement?
3) What is one change I can make to move me closer to my goal?
Don’t make things more complicated than they need to be. Goals can be malleable as you become clearer on what is important. Once you have a goal, write it down and post it where you will see it every day. Set reminders on your phone for the steps you need to take to achieve your goal.
